Charles Grant Gordon
Charles moved his family from Scotland first to Ontario, CA then to Michigan a short time after. The move was more than likely due to the Highland Evictions happening during that time as they were farmers.
Just a year later, his mother suffered a terrible fate and his father moved to America.

Mary Anne (Skinner) Gordon
Mary Anne lived in Gartly, Scotland and married Charles Gordon in 1868. She lived a long life as a farmer's wife.

Charles Grant and Mary Anne (Skinner) Gordon
Charles and Mary Anne were married in Aberdeenshire on October 30, 1868. They moved their young family to America in 1871 and suffered the loss of their 2nd Daughter at three weeks of age while in Boston, MA. They settled the family near Lapeer. This family suffered another two more tragedies - Charles' mother froze while walking on a country road and their son, my 2nd great grandfather, would pass in a tragedy at the young age of 27 in a terrible accident.

John Glenn Gordon
John's story fascinates me. He was a young father of 27 when he passed due to a terrible farming accident. His death had a profound impact on his entire family.

John Glenn and Carrie (Hatherly) Gordon
Carrie and John. They seems so happy here. John has a farm cat on his lap and Carrie is holding her first born son, John A Gordon. John would later pass away at the young age of 18, due to a burst appendix, while working in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
